Remembering Father Pedro: A Life of Faith, Prayer, and Service

This week, our parish came together in a beautiful expression of love, gratitude, and prayer as we honored the memory of Father Pedro Muñoz. From the Memorial Mass at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh, where so many gathered to pay their respects, to the Memorial Mass at Saint Paul and the beginning of a nine-day novena, it has been clear just how deeply Father Pedro touched the lives of those he encountered during his time shepherding Christ’s Church.

A Life Given to God

Father Pedro Muñoz was born on March 17, 1970, in Bogotá, Colombia, to Victor Manuel Muñoz and Ana de Dios Muñoz. He studied theology at Pontifical Javeriana University in Bogotá and was ordained to the priesthood on March 22, 2003.

Known affectionately as Padre Pedro, he will be remembered for his devotion to the Eucharist and his quiet spirituality. Through his priesthood, he offered his life in service to Christ and His Church, leaving a lasting impression on the people he served.

His life reminds us of the beauty of a faithful fiat—a wholehearted yes to God's call. Father Pedro's vocation was a gift to the Church, and the outpouring of love and prayer this week has been a moving testament to the many lives touched by his ministry.

Continuing to Lift Him in Prayer

As we remember Father Pedro with gratitude, we continue to entrust his soul to the loving mercy of our Lord. Our prayers are an expression of the love we hold for him and our hope in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

The nine-day novena continues through October 31, and it is not too late to join us. Parishioners and friends are invited to gather tonight at 7:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary to pray for Father Pedro. Refreshments will follow in the narthex, offering an opportunity to share fellowship and remember a priest who meant so much to so many.

All are welcome to join us in prayer.

Father Pedro, thank you for your fiat—for your yes to God and the life of service you so faithfully gave to His Church. May perpetual light shine upon you, and may you rest in the peace of Christ.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
