First Communion

Updated: Jul 28

"With the Eucharist, the intimacy becomes total; the embrace between God and man reaches its apex." - Saint Pope John Paul II

Last weekend, many of our children received their First Holy Communion. This is more than a rite of passage. This is the moment they received Jesus, body, blood, soul, and divinity. What a gift! In John 6, Jesus tells us, "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my Flesh for the life of the world." Jesus has given everything to nourish us and sustain us and unite us to himself.

As we celebrate this Sacrament with them, let us remember that it is not First Holy Communion that is the Sacrament; it is Holy Communion any day of your life that is the Sacrament. Each time we receive the Eucharist, we are again united with our Bridegroom as we receive his gift of love - his "Flesh for the life of the world."

Thank you, God, for your presence. Emmanuel, you are with us.

ABOUT US

Rooted in Christ’s Living Word and nourished by the Sacraments, our mission is to revitalize the faith and hope of our parish community. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and the teachings of Christ and His Church, we are committed disciples, who strengthen the Body of Christ through a life of prayer, fellowship, sacrificial love, and service.

We welcome cradle Catholics, those coming back to the Church after years away, and those who have never stepped foot in a Catholic Church. If you have questions about the faith, how to join the Church, or how to get connected with our parishioners and ministries, please reach out to welcome@spccnb.org. We'll be happy to help!
